Dads, CONNECT with your daughter
this year
Dates
1.
Schedule a regular father/daughter date, maybe once a
month or every other month. Go do something fun just the
two of you to reconnect.
Fun
2. Pick
a time to do something with her that she really
enjoys-maybe cooking, volleyball, a concert, board
games-you get the idea! It doesn't have to be elaborate
or expensive, but it will show her that you are
interested in what she is interested in, and that you
enjoy spending time with her.
Communicate
3.
Start a father/daughter journal and write notes to each
other and leave the notebook in a special place. It may
be easier to say things in writing.
Compliment
4.
Compliment her at least once a day. Make your
compliments about who she is as a person, her character. Maybe let her know
you appreciate her smile or a kind heart gesture that
you saw her do. Speak to her about the good attributes
you see in her or that she is developing as a young
woman. It is nice for her to know that she is beautiful,
but focus on who she is, not what she looks like.
